March 14, 2006

Ann began studying flower arrangement in the early 1980’s. She started with the western style arrangements and then added Ikebana to her repertoire. As soon as she retired from her computer software development career with IBM in 1999, she found part time work in flower shops. She currently works as a floral designer at Colony Florists in Greenwich, CT.

Ann first met Toshiko Alden in 1985 at an adult education class. Ann has been studying with Toshiko ever since, in workshops and private lessons. While at IBM, her assignments involved extensive travel which often prevented her from taking lessons. Since her retirement, she plans her travels around key dates for the flower shop (Valentine’s Day, Mother’s day, etc.), and regularly attends workshops given by visiting professors from Japan, and lessons with Toshiko.

Ann has served as recording secretary and membership chairperson for the New York Tachibana Chapter.
